INTRODUCTION
Advanced Technologies
Studies Centre (atSC, www.atsc.org.my ) in pursuant
to its market research which has indicated a lack of a forum or platform in
this region for an in-depth insights and latest updates on IT Project Management
has recently organised an event which successfully pooled an international group
of practitioners with a minimum 15 years to 35 years hands-on experience to
converge in KL to share their experiences of managing IT projects in resolving
issues and challenges in software development, outsourcing, and mission and
life critical system projects.
The event commenced with a one day pre-conference seminar "Realizing
Business Efficiency and Effectiveness Using Project Management Office (PMO)"
and attracted 48 senior project management practitioners keen on learning and
implementing Project Management office within their organisation.
On the conference
proper, a total of 155 participants comprising delegates from the government
as well as the private sectors from countries across the region ranging from
China, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Australia and Malaysia participated
in the 2-day event.
The day one officiating
ceremony was graced by a broad spectrum of key and prominent industry players.

The event generated
much publicity when Mr. Iain Fraser, Vice Chair, 2005 Board of Director, PMI
delivered the Special Address appropriately titled "The State of Project
Management in Organisation" whilst the keynote address "Achieving
Project Success Through Best Practices" was delivered by YBhg Tan Sri
Dato Ir. Jamilus Bin Hussein, President of KLIA Consultancy Services Sdn Bhd.
The presence of these 2 key players in the Project Management arena and also
the officiating of the event by none other that the CEO of Multimedia Development
Corporation, Datuk Dr. Mohamed Arif Nun, warranted the local press coverage
from the major publication namely The New Straits Times, The Star Publication,
The Edge and overflow to some other coverage over the internet.

Supporting Organisation
atSC in an effort to increase and ensure visibility of the conference has approached
and invited some prominent industry leaders to be the supporters of the event.
A stringent selection effort was put in place and the end results were the selection
of three organizations, which ventured together with atSC in the organising

their background and performance, which is of relevance and also their ability

SELECTION OF SPEAKERS AND TOPICS
Speakers and topics selected and discussed are specially selected and meticulously
reviewed by our panel to ensure interest among fellow practitioners and also
equally to those who are new in this field and who would want to know more about
it.
Speakers are stringently evaluated based on the number of years of hands on
experience and also by reviewing the projects that they have undertaken. The

The final contents
were submitted to the Project Management Institute for an application the aforementioned
and the approval was obtained and participant was entitle to claim up to 15
Professional Development Units (PDU)

To encourage audience participation, two panel sessions, one for each day, was
incorporated and Chaired by President Of Project Management Institute Malaysia
Chapter and President of Malaysia National Computer Confederation respectively.
